  The Blueair 403 is lacking the digital display system and a remote control of the 450E. The speed settings are changed manually at the front of the unit.

  Just as the 450E the Blueair 403 uses Blueair's patented HEPASilent™ technology. This filtration technology is a combination of mechanical and electrostatic filtration, and allows the Blueair 403 to deliver more clean air at a faster rate with less noise then any other domestic air purifier. The Blueair 403's Surround Air diffuses the clean air gently through a large area into three different directions, creating the lowest possible amount of draft and thus also limiting noise levels. The HEPASilent™ technology and Surround Air system allows the Blueair 403 to have an exceptionally low energy consumption.

Filtration Technology

The Blueair 403 uses a Blueair Three-Stage Progressive Filters. Each of the 403 three filters is made up out of three different levels of millions of ultra thin fibers. Large particles such as pollen and dust are captured by the Blueair 403 in its first filter layer. Small and ultra small particles such as bacterias and exhaust are captured by the second and third filter layer.
This Three-Stage Progressive filter design prevents the Blueair 403 filters from clogging up prematurely and allows the 403 to perform longer on its peak performance.
Regular air purifier filters are thinner and mostly consist of the same fiber size and filter material through out, which leads them to clog up sooner then the Blueair 403 Three-Stage Progressive Filter.
The Blueair 403 air purifier can also be used with the 400 Series SmokeStop HEPA replacement filter, which adds 0.9 kg of activated carbon for odour and gas filtration.
