The Blueair Pro XL SmokeStop is the largest air purifier in the range and comes with the Blueair light scatter (called “Air Intelligence Module”) already installed. The Blueair Pro XL SmokeStop is Blueair’s highest performing air purifier to date, which is able to move up to 1682 m3/h of air on its highest speed setting.
The Blueair Pro XL SmokeStop is the biggest air purifier in the Pro range and comes with the Blueair light scatter (called “Air Intelligence Module”) already installed. The module is designed to monitor common changes in particle and gas pollution levels in your indoor environments. The Blueair Pro XL SmokeStop also allows you to set the unit to auto mode, whereby the unit is able to adjust the speed setting of the 3 fans, based on the pollution levels detected.
The Blueair Pro XL SmokeStop has been constructed using galvanised steel and has a white/grey glossy finish. The unit has been designed to be both modern and fashionable as well as being able to blend into your environment. The Blueair Pro XL SmokeStop is able to use a mixture of Particle, SmokeStop or Carbon+ filters depending on whether you require particulate or gas filtration.
The Blueair Pro XL SmokeStop also employs the same type of filtration technology as the classic range, (such as the 203, 270E, 450E and 650E).
The Blueair Pro XL SmokeStop is silent when used on the lowest speed settings which makes it ideally suited for use in bedrooms or other sound sensitive environments. The Blueair Pro XL SmokeStop has three, high airflow, energy efficiency fans which enable it to clean large rooms, workspaces or commercials settings. On its lowest speed setting, the Blueair Pro XL SmokeStop has a decibel level of 32dB(A) and 35dB(A) on its second speed setting. The Blueair Pro XL SmokeStop can be deployed in rooms up to 45m2 and achieve 5 air changes as recommended by Blueair. On the third speed setting, the unit has a sound level of 58dB(A) and moves an impressive 1682 m3/h of air. This sound level would only be suitable in non-noise sensitive environments though. Please note: Blueair measure the sound of their air purifiers using ‘sound pressure’ as oppose to most other brands that use ‘sound power’. If you would like more information on how to assess the noise levels of an air purifier, please visit our blog post: How to assess an air purifier’s noise levels?
The Blueair Pro XL SmokeStop is capable of high levels of airflow and can move air like a typical fan which may seem to be making the room cooler compared to the ambient temperature. This may lead to the feeling that it is pushing out colder air when in fact it is not. The reason the air feels colder is due to the wind-chill factor of moving air.
This Blueair Pro XL SmokeStop is ideal for large size spaces and will help in effectively filtering the following:
- Pet Allergens (cat, dog, horse etc.)
- Heavy Dust
- Fine Dust
- Dust Mite Allergens
- Transportation (cars, trains, planes)
- Industry Pollution
- Other Volatile Organic Compounds
- Fungal Spores
In combination with SmokeStop or Carbon+ Filter:
|Gases & Fumes
- Building Material
- Pet Dander (cats, dogs etc.)
- Cooking Odours
- Musty Smells
The Blueair Pro XL SmokeStop is very easy to use and has a large LCD display on top of the unit which you are able to turn the unit on or off by using the PLUS and MINUS buttons. These buttons are also used to alter the different speed settings of the fans. Blueair has also added a filter life indicator to indicate when you need to change the filters within the unit. An auto mode is also present on the Blueair Pro XL SmokeStop so that it can adjust the running of the fans when a change in base levels of particle or gas pollution is detected.
The Blueair Pro XL SmokeStop is able to deliver air purification in large areas and is also able to achieve up to 5 air changes per hour depending on the room size and speed setting selected. Blueair has utilised three high output, energy efficient fans to deliver high capacity air purification which reduces airborne particles and odours. These are the same fans that are used in the Blueair Pro M unit, but three of them as oppose to one.
With its great design, the Blueair Pro XL SmokeStop is perfectly suited for large design conscious workplaces, living areas or commercial spaces.
Design and Durability
The design allows the Blueair Pro XL SmokeStop unit to be placed along walls so that space can be preserved and allows the air purifier to easily blend into your surrounding environment. The exterior of the Blueair Pro XL SmokeStop has been made from galvanised steel which gives it both a modern and sleek look.
The filters for the Blueair Pro XL have been made from 100% polypropylene fibers, which mean they are easier to recycle.
As air is pulled into the Blueair Pro XL SmokeStop, the particles enter an ion chamber where they are given a negative charge which causes them to ‘attach’ to the surface of the filter fibers. The primary layers of the filter are responsible for capturing larger particles like dust and pollen and the smaller fibers capture particles such as viruses, bacteria and exhaust particles.
The Blueair Pro XL SmokeStop does not use actual HEPA filtration, although the term “HEPASilent” is used. The unit uses a combination of Blueair’s progressive three-stage filtration system. This consists of ionisation, electrostatic and mechanical filtration.
The Blueair Pro XL SmokeStop filter fibers vary in the densities, which mean that the filter resist getting overloaded as quickly when compared to other ionisers. This enables the Pro XL SmokeStop to maintain higher levels of filtration efficiency over time. The filtration efficiency of the unit will depend on the contamination levels, remaining life of the filter and the speed setting the unit is being run on. Blueair recommends changing the filters every 6 months
The Blueair Pro XL SmokeStop comes fitted with a ‘SmokeStop’ filter which is made up of activated carbon. The carbon is capable of trapping harmful odours, chemicals and volatile organic compounds (VOC’s). The SmokeStop filter has been designed to operate in conditions where there are high levels of gaseous pollutants, including smoke. The fibers in the filter are naturally anti-bacterial so they are able to inhibit bacteria and mould development.
The ‘SmokeStop’ filter has been designed so that it has a gradient system, whereby the filter performs as many different filters to trap different sizes of particles.
The Blueair Pro XL SmokeStop is also able to be equipped with a “Carbon+ filter” . This adds an extra layer of carbon filtration in order to filter out heavy gases, odours and VOC’s. The structure of the carbon, make it perfect for trapping all kinds of gases and odours.
