Air Purification for Nail Salon
Air Purification for Nail Salon - A Case Study
A successful nail salon business was expanding into North London and wanted their new salon to hit the ground running and was looking for air filtration for a nail salon. The owner had experienced a number of issues caused by chemicals and dust in the air, for example customers and staff complained of unpleasant chemical smells from nail products. One member of staff even became sensitised to the chemicals, resulting in headaches, low productivity and morale.
The owner was fully aware of government guidelines from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) legislation. However, some requirements, such as creating a good standard of general ventilation were proving difficult to implement in a leased premises. While some nail salons open the front door to help with ventilation, this isn’t always a good solution because it makes temperature and humidity difficult to control and it lets in dirty and polluted air from outside. It also creates a strong chemical smell outside the nail salon, which is not how many owners want to advertise their business no matter how new they are.
The owner’s objective was to find a solution that was quick and easy to install, and captured all forms of air pollution in the salon, including chemicals, odours and dust particles. Not only was this important to do for legal reasons, but also invested in the well-being of employees and customers, which makes strong financial sense.
Upon contacting Commercial Air Filtration, the nail salon owner spoke to a member of the expert nail salon team. The owner commented that this member was “very knowledgeable” about the issue of air pollution in nail salons and that he “took the time to properly understand our requirements.” The recommendation made was for a single IQAir GC MultiGas air cleaner. This air cleaner uses 5.4Kg of the highest quality activated granular carbon and impregnated alumina (AC4/IA4) to capture precisely the kinds of chemicals found in nail salons, and has a medical grade HEPA filter for dust particulates.
An order for the IQAir GC MultiGas (picture to the left) was placed and the air cleaning system was delivered next day. With the help of Commercial Air Filtration’s trained installation team, the product was setup and working within moments of delivery. With immediate effect, the IQAir GC MultiGas was removing chemicals, odours and particles and replacing them with completely clean air!
“The difference in air quality was easy to notice. We could never have imagined that such a small system could produce such big results.” Said Mike P.
In addition to its performance and ease of use, one of the best things about the IQAir GC MultiGas is that it can be fully automated. Once setup there is next to nothing you need to do, for the IQAir GC MultiGas knows when to turn itself on or off, and what fan speed setting to use. This feature and the extra long-lasting filters mean that you can focus on other areas of your business and trust that you air pollution is adequately controlled.
The IQAir GC MultiGas can also be fitted with a vacuum attachment to capture chemicals, odours and dust particles at the source, stopping them from ever being breathed in by customers or employees again. It can also be wall-mounted to save space, and even configured to bring in fresh and completely clean air from outside.
